Privacy policy

Short version: the calculator runs in your browser, and we don't collect your name, email or income details.

Information you enter

The salary, state and other details you enter are processed in your own browser to calculate your results. They aren't sent to or stored on our servers. If you use "Share this result", those details are placed in the link itself so the person you send it to sees the same result.

Approximate location

To pre-select your state, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) looks up the approximate region of your IP address when the page loads. We use it only to choose the default state in the calculator. We don't store it or link it to you.

Preferences stored on your device

If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. It never leaves your device.

Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count visits and see which pages are popular. It doesn't use cookies or track you across other websites.

Advertising and cookies

We may show ads served by Google and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. Where required by law, such as in the EU, UK and certain US states, we'll ask for your consent before personalized ads or non-essential cookies are used.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Children

aftrtax is intended for adults and isn't directed at children under 13.
