Terms of service
The short version: aftrtax is a free tool that gives estimates. Use it to understand your paycheck, not as tax advice, and don't misuse the site.
Estimates only. aftrtax is not tax, legal or financial advice, and your actual paycheck may differ. Please check important decisions with a qualified professional.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to your use of aftrtax.com and all of its pages and calculators (the "site"), which is operated by aftrtax ("we", "us"). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
2. What aftrtax is
aftrtax provides free calculators and information that estimate take-home pay after US federal, state, Social Security and Medicare taxes. The site is for general, educational information only. We are not a tax preparer, accountant, financial adviser, payroll provider or law firm, and nothing on the site creates a professional or advisory relationship with you.
3. Accuracy of results
We work hard to keep our tax data current and our calculations correct, and we explain our approach on the How we calculate page. Even so, results are estimates based on simplified assumptions. They don't include every local tax, credit, deduction or individual circumstance, and tax rules can change at any time. Your employer's payroll, your pay stub and your tax return are the authoritative sources for your own figures.
If you find something that looks wrong, please let us know — we fix errors as quickly as we can.
4. Your use of the site
You're welcome to use the site for your own personal purposes and to share links to it, including links to your results. You agree not to:
- use the site for anything unlawful or in a way that harms others;
- interfere with the site's operation, security or servers, or try to gain unauthorized access to them;
- use bots, scrapers or other automated means to copy the site's pages or data in bulk, except for search engines indexing the site under our robots.txt rules;
- republish, sell or present our content or calculators as your own, or frame the site in a way that hides that it's aftrtax;
- generate fake traffic or clicks, including on advertisements.
5. Our content
The site's design, text, code, graphics and logo belong to aftrtax. Tax rates and rules themselves are public information and come from the sources listed on our methodology page. You may quote small parts of our content with a link back to the page it came from. For any other use, please ask us first.
6. Advertising and links to other sites
The site may show advertisements and links to websites run by others. We don't control those sites, products or services and aren't responsible for them. If we ever earn a commission from a link, we'll say so clearly. Advertisers never influence our calculations.
7. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what information is processed when you use the site. In short, the calculator runs in your browser and we don't ask for your name, email or income details.
8. No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we make no promises that the site will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will meet your particular needs.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, aftrtax is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its results, including financial decisions you make based on an estimate. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live.
10. Changes
We may update the site, add or remove features, or change these terms at any time. When we change these terms we'll update the date below. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there.
